Who was Thomas Damon and what can we say about our father? Thomas is the father of two daughters, Deborah Damon (Morton) and Hillary Damon (Stanley). He was a wonderful father with a big heart. Growing up Thomas played sports. Whether it was tennis, paddle tennis or even you guessed it, bowling, we went as a family. He would watch and sometimes even bowl with us. He would work with us and even coach and give us pointers to help improve our game. As we got older, he would get us involved in Saturday morning leagues. He would drop us off with our friends and pick us up when we were finished. We even remember him going with us to get our first bowling balls. No matter what sport we played, bowling, diving, sailing or tennis he supported us from start to finish. When either one of us came home, we would tell him how we did and he would tell us how proud he was of each one of us. He always supported the both of us from start to finish. Even as adults he supported us in all of our endeavors.
We both truly believe that our father would support the youth bowlers of today, just as he supported both of his daughters and their friends so many years ago.
This event is in honor of a man that truly believes you can accomplish anything that you put your mind to, all you have to do is try. We would like to leave you with this final word. Our father would always say to us “If you put your mind to it you can achieve just about anything. Just put your whole heart in to it and you will be amazed of what you can accomplish.”
Good luck to all of you.
